Cookies and Browser Preferences

The reading experience does not depend on advertising trackers. A browser preference is the only persistent storage used by this site's own scripts.

Cookies and local storage are different

Cookies are small values a browser can store and send with requests to a website. Local storage keeps values in the browser for a particular site and does not automatically send them with every page request. Both can fall within rules governing storage on a user's device.

The supplied website code does not set HTTP cookies, run analytics, embed advertising services or load third-party media players. Pages, scripts, styles and image references are served as local site resources. Following an external link takes you to a site with its own practices.

What this site stores

Storage used by the site's preference controls
NameType and purposeDuration
browsecometwhirl-cookie-preferenceLocal storage. Records either “accepted” or “essential” after you choose a preference. It contains no message, name or email address.Until you change it, clear site data or your browser removes it.

This preference is stored to remember your choice. It is not used as an advertising identifier. The current static site has no optional cookies to enable, so choosing Accept does not start analytics or marketing tracking.

Your browser preference

Choose a setting for this browser. You can change it here at any time. Essential Only leaves optional uses declined; Accept records acceptance, but no optional services are currently installed.

JavaScript checks your saved preference when this page loads.

What the tools do not store

The contact session-note composer keeps its working text in the page, not in this preference record. Copying a note places text on your device's clipboard; downloading it creates a local file. Neither action submits the note to us. Browser autofill and clipboard synchronisation are separate device or browser features.

Clearing or blocking storage

You can remove this site's local storage through your browser's site-data settings. Clearing it removes the saved preference. Private browsing, browser cleanup policies or blocked storage may also prevent a choice from persisting. The guides remain readable if storage is unavailable.

Preferences are browser-specific and do not automatically follow you to another browser or device. Changing a choice here does not remove previously downloaded text files or clipboard copies.

Questions and updates

We will update this notice if the site's storage practices change. Optional services requiring consent should not be enabled before that consent is obtained. For more about technical requests and email correspondence, read the Privacy notice.
